Carly Simon – Anticipation
LP, Album | Elektra | Cat. No. EKS-75016 | Canada | 1971
Carly Simon's second album and the one that established her voice as one of the most distinctive in early-'70s singer-songwriter pop. Written largely in response to a last-minute date with Cat Stevens, the title track became one of her signature songs — later immortalized in the Heinz ketchup ads. Produced by Paul Samwell-Smith (of The Yardbirds) and supervised by Jac Holzman, with string arrangements by Del Newman, engineering by Mike Bobak, and mastering by Lee Hulko. Photography by her brother Peter Simon. Canadian Elektra pressing on the Kinney Music of Canada label, with the full-colour butterfly label.
