Kevin Ayers / John Cale / Brian Eno / Nico – June 1, 1974
LP, Album | Island Records | Cat. No. ILPS 9291 | US | 1974
One of the great documents of the post-Velvet Underground avant-garde — four luminaries of the experimental and art rock world sharing a stage at the Rainbow Theatre, London on June 1, 1974. Recorded live on the Island Mobile and mixed at Sound Techniques by engineer John Wood, this is a rare and historically significant live LP: Brian Eno performing Driving Me Backwards and Baby's On Fire, John Cale's haunting take on Heartbreak Hotel, Nico's devastating The End, and Kevin Ayers closing out with five tracks backed by a stellar band including Ollie Halsall, Robert Wyatt, and John "Rabbit" Bundrick. Mastered at Artisan Sound Recorders, California.
