One of the most celebrated recordings of the Liszt concertos — Sviatoslav Richter at the peak of his powers, recorded July 19–21, 1961 at Walthamstow Assembly Hall, London. This is a Mercury recording released on Philips, captured on 35mm film rather than magnetic tape — a technically distinctive process noted prominently on the sleeve as "AN ORIGINAL 35MM FILM RECORDING." Engineered by Robert Fine with co-engineer Robert Eberenz, film-to-disc transfer by George Piros, and liner notes by Irving Kolodin. The Canadian Quality Records pressing on the dark red Philips label, in a thick laminated cardboard sleeve. Sub-tracks are not banded on the vinyl; no track duration info on sleeve or labels.
