Grandmaster Melle Mel & The Furious Five – Pump Me Up
12", Picture Disc | Sugar Hill Records | Cat. No. SHLX 141 | UK | 1985
A UK Sugar Hill picture disc 12-inch — one of the more visually striking releases from hip-hop’s old-school era. The A-side picture features a side-view torso of a female bodybuilder flexing, with the artist name and title in white text circling the disc; the B-side carries all release information, tracklisting, matrix numbers, and credits in place of a standard label. Produced by Sylvia Robinson and Joey Robinson Jr. (Sugar Hill Records’ founding family); new arrangement by Leland Robinson. Two mixes: the full Pump Me Up on the picture side and The Megamelle Mix plus instrumental on the flip. A collectible format piece as much as a record — picture discs from this era are increasingly sought by hip-hop collectors and display collectors alike. VG+/VG+ — excellent condition for a picture disc.
