A twelve-track, four-sided compilation from Sugar Hill Records — the Englewood, New Jersey label that launched hip-hop on wax — documenting the early 1980s moment when breakdancing, electro, and old-school rap intersected on the dancefloor. The tracklist is a genuine who’s-who of the era: Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five appear twice, including The Adventures Of Grandmaster Flash On The Wheels Of Steel (7:06) — one of the foundational records in DJ culture — and New York New York (7:21). Melle Mel & Duke Bootee contribute Message II (6:50); Grandmaster Flash & Melle Mel open with White Lines (Don’t Don’t Do It) (7:28). Also featured: Treacherous Three, Sugarhill Gang, West Street Mob (Breakdancin’ – Electric Boogie), and The Crash Crew. Sleeve notes by Simon Hills; art direction by Hemu Aggarwal; lacquer cut by Steve Robb. US pressing; jacket made in Canada. A strong VG+/VG+ crate-digger copy of a breakdance-era essential.
