Wild Turkey – Battle Hymn

Wild Turkey was formed in 1970 by Glenn Cornick, founding bassist of Jethro Tull, after his departure from that band. Battle Hymn is their debut LP — a ten-track hard rock album with strong British blues and progressive rock textures, ranging from the atmospheric opener Butterfly to the muscular title track. Produced by Rodger Bain — the producer behind Black Sabbath’s first three albums (Black Sabbath, Paranoid, Master of Reality) and Budgie’s early catalogue — and engineered by Tom Allom, who would later produce Judas Priest’s classic Screaming for Vengeance–era run. Cornick plays bass, guitar, and keyboards; lead vocals and acoustic guitar by Gary Pickford-Hopkins; lead guitar by Tweke Lewis; percussion by Jeff Jones. Original US Reprise gatefold pressing. Pressing note: this copy does not have “STEREO” text along the label perimeter — a noted variant documented on Discogs (very likely an original pressing rather than a reissue). Runouts etched with partial stamping. A strong VG+/VG+ copy of a legitimately scarce early British hard rock record.
