Roxy & Elsewhere is widely regarded as one of Frank Zappa’s finest live recordings, capturing the 1973–74 touring band at peak compositional and improvisational form. The lineup is exceptional: George Duke (keyboards, synthesizer, vocals), Chester Thompson and Ralph Humphrey (drums), Napoleon M. Brock (tenor saxophone, flute, lead vocals), Ruth Underwood (percussion), Tom Fowler (bass), Bruce Fowler (trombone), Walt Fowler (trumpet), Don Preston (synthesizer), and Jeff Simmons (rhythm guitar, vocals). Produced by Frank Zappa; design and graphics by Cal Schenkel. Fourteen tracks across four sides including Penguin In Bondage, Village Of The Sun, Echidna’s Arf (Of You), Don’t You Ever Wash That Thing? (9:47), Cheepnis, Son Of Orange County, and the closing Be-Bop Tango (Of The Old Jazzmen’s Church) (15:23). Records NM with minimal signs of handling; gatefold sleeve VG with moderate edge and surface wear consistent with age — structurally solid and fully intact.
