A ten-track compilation drawing from Frankie Laine’s peak commercial period — Laine was one of the dominant pop vocalists of the late 1940s and 1950s, whose dramatic, full-throated delivery made him one of the biggest-selling artists of the pre-rock era and a major influence on the development of popular ballad and country-pop crossover styles. Produced by Jimmy Bowen — one of the most commercially successful producers in American popular music; Bowen produced Frank Sinatra at Reprise, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., and later became the most dominant figure in Nashville through the 1980s, producing Kenny Rogers, Hank Williams Jr., Reba McEntire, and Garth Brooks, among many others. Arranged by Billy Strange — a prolific Hollywood session guitarist and arranger whose credits include Nancy Sinatra (“These Boots Are Made For Walkin’”), Elvis Presley film soundtracks, and dozens of major pop productions of the 1960s; and Jimmie Haskell — a Grammy Award-winning arranger whose string and orchestral work spans Simon & Garfunkel (Bookends), Ricky Nelson, and numerous pop sessions of the era. Key tracks: I Believe (A1 — a #1 hit and one of Laine’s signature songs), Jezebel (B1), That Lucky Old Sun (B5), Your Cheatin’ Heart (A2). Vinyl VG+ with only a couple barely visible tiny marks; cover VG with some wear.
