The first posthumous Hendrix studio album — and one of the finest. Recorded at Electric Lady Studios (the studio Hendrix built and never lived to fully use), The Cry Of Love was produced by Eddie Kramer and Mitch Mitchell from sessions Hendrix was working on at the time of his death in September 1970. Ten tracks of late-period Hendrix at his most expansive: Freedom, Drifting, Ezy Rider, Angel, In From The Storm, and Belly Button Window — the final track he recorded. Lacquer cut by Bob Ludwig at Sterling Sound; pressed at Columbia Records, Santa Maria. Notable session guests include Steve Winwood and Buzzy Linhart on vibraphone, and Chris Wood on vibes. This is the white label promotional pressing — labels read "Promotion – Not For Sale"; hype sticker applied directly to the gatefold front cover at top-left (as promos were not shrink-wrapped).
