A twelve-track Roulette Records compilation drawing from Jimmie Rodgers’ peak commercial period at the label — Rodgers (not to be confused with country pioneer Jimmie Rodgers) was one of the biggest pop-folk crossover artists of the late 1950s, scoring a remarkable run of top 10 hits between 1957 and 1959. Produced by Hugo & Luigi — Hugo Peretti and Luigi Creatore, one of the most successful producer-songwriter teams in American popular music; their credits include Sam Cooke’s major RCA recordings (Wonderful World, Chain Gang), the Tokens’ The Lion Sleeps Tonight (1961, US #1), and dozens of major pop productions of the era. Orchestra arranged and conducted by Hugo Peretti. Key tracks: Honeycomb (B6 — Rodgers’ debut single and first #1, 1957; 27 weeks on the charts), Kisses Sweeter Than Wine (A6 — US #3, 1957), Oh-Oh, I’m Falling In Love Again (A3 — US #7, 1958), Secretly (B1 — US #3, 1958), Bimbombey (A1 — US #11, 1958).
