A split-sided Canadian Columbia Special Products Christmas compilation pairing two of Columbia’s most commercially successful easy listening artists. Side A features Johnny Mathis — one of the best-selling recording artists of the 20th century, whose 1958 Merry Christmas album spent 490 weeks on the Billboard charts over a 30-year period, making it one of the longest-charting albums in Billboard history; Mathis’s warm lyric tenor and classical-influenced phrasing made him the definitive Columbia pop balladeer of his era. Side B features Ray Conniff And The Singers — Conniff’s lush orchestral-choral arrangements, developed at Columbia under producer Mitch Miller, were among the label’s most consistent sellers throughout the 1960s and 1970s; his choral signature — using voices as instruments within the orchestral texture — defined a generation of easy listening Christmas records.
