Kate Smith (1907–1986) was one of the most beloved voices in American popular music, a radio and recording institution from the 1930s through the 1950s. When The Moon Comes Over The Mountain — her signature song since 1931 — opens this ten-track Harmony Records compilation drawing from her Columbia catalogue. Harmony was Columbia’s budget reissue label, making her recordings widely accessible to home listeners. The set spans her warm, straightforward ballad style: classic standards including Seems Like Old Times, Time On My Hands, There Goes That Song Again, and On The Atchison, Topeka And The Santa Fe.
