Now And Zen (1988) marked Robert Plant’s most commercially successful solo album — and its most talked-about moment is the return of Jimmy Page, who plays guitar on Tall Cool One and Heaven Knows, both of which weave sampled Led Zeppelin riffs into the arrangements. It was the first time Page and Plant had worked together since the band dissolved, making this a significant document in the Zeppelin post-history. Produced by Plant, Phil Johnstone (Plant’s primary collaborator throughout the decade), and Tim Palmer — who would go on to mix Pearl Jam’s Ten, Temple Of The Dog, and Ozzy Osbourne’s No More Tears. Backing vocals by Kirsty MacColl and Toni Halliday (Curve, appearing courtesy of Anxious Records). Recorded at Swanyard Studios and Marcus Recording Studios. Mastered at Sterling Sound, NYC using DMM (Direct Metal Mastering) technology — confirmed in both the runout and the sleeve notes, and audible in the record’s clarity and dynamic range. Canadian Cinram pressing (CR in runouts), distributed by WEA Music Of Canada Ltd.; printed by Ever Reddy (ER logo encircled on spine, Printed In Canada). Inner lyric sleeve included.
