The debut album from Chicago stand-up comedian Shelley Berman — one of the most significant comedy LPs of the late 1950s. Recorded live and released on Verve, Inside Shelley Berman became the first comedy album to go gold in the US, and helped establish the stand-up comedy LP as a commercially viable format alongside contemporaries Mort Sahl, Bob Newhart, and Lenny Bruce. Berman's neurotic, telephone-monologue style was groundbreaking for its time. Liner notes by Mort Sahl and Irv Kupcinet. Canadian pressing; manufactured by Columbia Records of Canada Ltd. under licence from Verve Records Inc.; described as "a panoramic true Hi-Fi recording." VG+ vinyl.
