A Canadian CBS reissue of the Amazing Rhythm Aces' self-titled album — previously released as AA 1123. The Aces were one of the great Southern rock/country-soul bands of the mid-70s, best known for their Grammy-winning Third Rate Romance. This album is a strong showcase of their range: Russell Smith's raspy lead vocal on Love And Happiness (the Al Green cover), Lipstick Traces (On A Cigarette), and the sprawling 7-minute album closer Whispering In The Night. Produced by Jimmy Johnson; recorded at Muscle Shoals Sound Studios A and B on the Tennessee River, Sheffield, Alabama — one of the most storied recording environments in American music. Full band lineup: Russell Smith (harmonica, guitar), Duncan Cameron (guitar, mandolin, banjo), Billy Earheart (organ, accordion, xylophone, piano), James Hooker (piano, clavinet, organ), Jeff Davis (bass), Butch McDade (drums, percussion). Hole punch bottom right of sleeve. NM vinyl in VG sleeve.
