The Pretenders’ fourth album, produced by three of the most in-demand names in 1980s rock production — each handling different sessions: Bob Clearmountain (who also mixed the record — the engineer and mixer behind Bruce Springsteen’s Born In The USA, the Rolling Stones’ Tattoo You, and David Bowie’s Let’s Dance), Jimmy Iovine (by 1986 a fully established A-list producer, having come up as an engineer for John Lennon and Bruce Springsteen), and Steve Lillywhite (who shaped the early sound of U2 across Boy, October, and War). Mastered by Bob Ludwig at Masterdisk. Recorded across five studios: Air Studios (London), Power Station (NYC), Bearsville Studios, Right Track Recording (NYC), and Polar Studios (Stockholm — ABBA’s studio). Lacquer cut at McClear Place, Toronto. Bass by T.M. Stevens; guitar by Robbie McIntosh; drums by Blair Cunningham. Photography by Richard Haughton (front and back cover); design by Helen Backhouse.
