Factory sealed Canadian RCA pressing of this celebrated recording of traditional Newfoundland folk songs performed by the St. John’s Extension Choir of Memorial University of Newfoundland, directed by Ignatius A. Rumboldt. Originally issued in 1966 and reissued here in 1978; manufactured by RCA Limited, Custom Record Division, and distributed by the Memorial University of Newfoundland Extension Service. Mastered at RCA Studios, Toronto; matrix hand-etched (SJEC-1001-A/B, TXD). Fourteen tracks of traditional Newfoundland folk songs and sea shanties spanning both sides: A Great Big Sea Hove In Long Beach, I’se The B’y That Builds The Boat, Lukey’s Boat, Let Me Fish Off Cape St. Mary’s, She’s Like The Swallow, Jack Was Every Inch A Sailor, and closing with The Ode To Newfoundland. A genuine piece of Canadian regional folk heritage — a university-produced, non-commercial pressing of traditional repertoire that rarely surfaces sealed. Sealed Mint throughout.
