A rare and extraordinary document presenting two distinct sacred works on a single LP. Misa Flamenca (Side A) sets the Catholic mass ordinary — Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, Agnus Dei — to traditional Andalusian flamenco forms: La Caña, Cantes de Málaga, Cantes Gitanos, Cantes del Campo, Cantes de Cádiz. Guitar by Ramón de Algeciras (elder brother of Paco de Lucía and a significant flamenco guitarist in his own right) and Víctor Monge “Serranito”, one of the leading concert flamenco guitarists of the era. Vocals by Chocolate, Pericón de Cádiz, Rafael Romero, and others. Misa Mozarabe (Side B) presents the ancient Mozarabic rite — the pre-Gregorian liturgy of the Iberian peninsula, suppressed in the 11th century and preserved only in Toledo — performed by the Choir of the Seminary of Toledo and of the Colegio de Infantes, directed by José Torregrosa with Orchestra of Ancient Instruments. Stiff card gatefold sleeve with a bound 12-page (6-sheet) booklet at the inner spine. Promotional copy. NM vinyl in VG sleeve.
